PADDLE FOR SAVE BIRD - 2014
A bicycle rally for “Save Bird Campaign”
had been organized on 11-Jan-2014
With compliments to state that recently, synthetic nylon cord (Dori, Manja) which is also known as Chinese cord (Dori, Manja) which is banned however easily available in the market has proven dangerous to the birds. With the intention that kite lovers themselves avoid using the Chinese cord and under “Save bird campaign” and “A Road safety awareness campaign”, Youth Hostels Association of India, Ahmedabad, Bapunagar unit had organized a bicycle rally named “Pedal for Save Bird” with students from Standard 7 to Standard 10. The rally had travelled approximately 12.6 km in the city’s eastern area. It started from NH-8 Viratnagart to Hamumal Temple, Viratnagar via Khodiyarnagar, Thakkarbapanagar, Vijay Park, Sardar Chowk, Bapa Sitaram Chowk, Sahjanand Vidhyalay, Manohar Villa, Auda Medan (Beti Bachavo Medan), Kunj Mall, Dipak School, Nishant Bungalows, Khodiyar Mandir, Odhav Road, Mammohan Society, Viratnagar Char Rasta. Approximately 530 students from 20 schools of east ahmedabad had participated in this bicycle rally. The rally also witnessed a surprise event. A 750 meter long Indian national flag was being hoisted throughout the 12 km long rally. The students had also enjoyed Matka kulfi, Chiki, Malto, biscuits and snacks along with slogans. The rally was escorted by 20 to 25 bikers.
Mr. Umesh Patel, DCP, Traffic Police, East Ahmedabad had inaugurated the rally by riding bicycle with the students at approx. 2 pm. At 3.30 pm at the conclusion ceremony all students and escorts were appreciated with certificate and snacks. Thereafter Mr. Shahu, Superintendent of Kankaria Zoo, had taken vow with all students, “We will avoid flying kites with Chinese cord", We will avoid kite flying in between 6 to 8 morning and evening, We will keep distance from high voltage wires”, “We will not run after Kites”, “We will wear cape and a closed neck sweater while flying kites”, “We will wear helmet and closed neck sweater while riding bikes during the kite festival”. Thereafter, On request, Mr. Manishbhai Vaid, the invited Environmentalist had delivered a brief speech on environment.
