The fort & town of JAISALMER was founded by Maharawal Jaisal in the year 1156 AD after having shifted his capital from Ludharva (18 Kms away from Jaisalmer) to a safer place. The ruling family of the erstwhile Jaisalmer State belongs to Bhati Clan of Yadu Rajputs of Chandrawasnshi (Lunar) race who claim descent from Lord Krishna,the defied hero who ruled at Dwarka. The historical origin of Bhatis can be inferred from the couplet which says that the Yadu Rajputs ruled and constructed Forts at Kashi,Mathura, Pragvad, Gajni, Bhatner, Digam, Dirwal, Lodurva and ninth in Jaisalmer. (Gajni is in Afghanistan and Dirawal is now in Pakistan). This district has got a very important place on The international tourist map. Popularly known as the “Golden City”, it has the following attraction of the tourist importance.

  • Salim Singh’s Haveli.
  • Nathmal’s haveli.
  • Mandir Palace (Tazia Tower).
  • Gadisar Lake.
  • Govt. museum & the folk museum.
  • All these monuments have the unique stone carving on yellow stone. The whole city is constructed with yellow stone.

Art & Music : The two communities viz. ‘Manganiars’ and ‘Langas’ have not only preserved the traditional art & music but they have carried it beyond the domestic shores. The folk Music with traditional instruments and the folk dances are very popular and fascinating. The cultural programmes performed by these artistes have special attraction for the tourists
Program Schedule:-
Day 1: Reporting at base camp
Day 2: Visit city, after lunch transfer by bus to Damodara Resort (25 KM) then Trek to Kharara Camp (3 KM)
Day 3: Trek to Sam Sand Dunes (14KM)
Day 4: Camel Safari upto Beeda Fanta (10KM)
           Then Trek to Sudasari (5KM)
Day 5: Trek To Barana (12 KM)
Day 6: Transfer by bus to basecamp, Jaisalmer (40 KM/)
            Group break after Lunch
Minimum age to participate in this expedition is 10 Years. The age restriction will be strictly followed. 

NOTE:-    Foreigners are not allowed in this trek.  
How to reach: Base Camp for the programme is established in the border home guards ground, Jaisalmer, 2 kms.from bus stand and 4 km from railway station. Jaisalmer is connected by train service with Delhi, Hawarah, Jaipur,Jodhpur,Bikaner. It is also connected by road with Delhi, Ahmedbad, Kucch, Pune, Mumbai, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Ajmer & Udaipur. Nearest airport is Jodhpur.

CANCELLATION RULES: In case you are unable to join the camp and wish to cancel your participation, Your application must reach the concern offices, before 28th  Oct. 2015. In this case you will get 50% refund i.e Rs.2000/- after completion of programme. If such notice received after  28th Oct. 2015 No refund will be given.
What to bring: Rucksack (if you have) cotton shirts.cottan paints,wollen jersey,wollen muffler or monkey cap, hunter shoes, torch with spare batteries, water bottle, lunch box,mug,glass, plate, spoon, water purifying tablets, pen- Knife, Needle,thread,spare buttons, goggles, cold cream or Vaseline, soap,toilet-paper,towel, medicines which you normally use.
Safety & Security: Exclusive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trekking expedition route of your safety. our field staff and experienced camp leaders have visited the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the youth hostel association of India or its Rajasthan state branch will not be responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.
